GITYL prevail as the first Hoopz Champion
The Power
Rankings proved to be right on point as we saw #2 versus #5 in the Championship. As stated the 'dark horse' prevailed as the undisputed Champ with the 58 - 48 victory in game two of the Champions series.
Leading early in the first half, Aaron Young went to work scoring 13 of the team 35 total points. David Miller also helped lead the up-tempo play finishing with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in the win. The bright spot of the night came when
Vincent Carusso went to town by hitting not three but five consecutive shots to put the game away for Give It To You Later, finishing with a team high 17 points.
The veteran play of Justin Waters kept the score close early. Waters finished with a all game highs in points and rebounds, 21 and 14 respectively. Tom Ngo had another
solid performance playing point and chipping in with 12 points but only three assists.
The stellar play of GITYL proved to be too much for the second ranked team in the competitive division. GITYL began the season slow but picked it up later to finish with an overall 6 - 1 record for the latter part of the season.
Never underestimate the
heart of a champion and GITYL showed they are a force to be reckoned with given that they lead the league in player points, rebounds and assists from July 12
th.
